Karakorum Capital of Khans
In 1220 AD Genghis Khan established the capital of his empire on the fertile plains along the Orkhon river. We journey to the remains of his capital – Karakorum – and explore the heartland of today's Mongolia. Magic of Mongolia takes us through the wide open spaces of the grasslands, where we meet local herders and experience their lifestyle, past the sand dunes of Mongol Els – Little Gobi Desert – and on to Karakorum.  We complete this journey with a visit to the forests and crystal clear rivers in Terelj National Park, under the banner of cobalt blue skies. Sands of the Gobi Desert
Jurassic Park
 Images of camels roaming the Gobi desert are synonymous with Mongolia.   The Gobi Desert sweeps across the South from East to West and is the home of wild Takhi horses, the world's only desert bear – the Gobi Bear – and fossilized remains of dinosaurs including the fearsome Tyrannosaurs Rex.  After orientating ourselves in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, we fly to the Gobi and spend three days exploring nearby sights including Yolym Am – Vultures Gorge –  a gorge so narrow that it remains iced all year round, and dinosaur remains at the world famous palentological site, Bayanzag.  This journey finishes with a visit to the lush green forests of Terelj National Park to compliment and contrast the hot sands of the Gobi.

Lake Hovsgol
The Jewel in Mongolia’s Crown
Lake Hovsgol is the second largest freshwater lake in the world, and sister lake to Lake Baikal in Siberia. Located in Northwestern Mongolia close to the Siberian border this pristine inland sea is surrounded by forests of Siberian pine and Larch, with a backdrop of snow covered peaks. On this cultural getaway we take you to the shores of the lake to stay in quaint wood cabins or Mongolian Gers. Every day offers new adventures to hike in the forests, horseride, fish or just relax at camp – as far as Getaways go this one is about as active or passive as you make it!
